Feminine is dark and mysterious, teaches us softness, sensitivity, yielding, surrender, flexibility, acceptance, kindness, humbleness and stillness. Masculine is light and direct, it teaches us firmness, strength, deliberation, power, courage, action and determination. We need an equal measure of both in a form of a dynamic, harmonious relationship of energies.

Don't lose your humbleness and flexibility when you learn strength, and don't lose your strength and determination when you learn sensitivity and surrender, for without softness and flexibility the strength becomes blind and destructive, while without strength and courage, softness and surrender turn into weakness and stagnation. Firmness without flexibility turns into stubbornness and courage without kindness turns into arrogance.

But the subtle, harmonious balance cannot be created by the self-absorbed, rational-emotional mind, for it is the mind that creates the separation of those qualities in the first place. It's only from the state of inner stillness and total presence in the moment that we can live in this harmony of opposite forces. In a particular case of breast health problems, the scenario of losing awareness in breast tissues is multifaceted and is a result of the following factors: the root of the problem stems from the shame and unacceptance of breast exposure imposed by the society leading women to hiding their bodies behind a thick layer of clothes and underwear. The subject of breast exposure is suppressed to the point of avoiding it even in our speech. Wearing tight-fit, synthetic bras leads to a fixed position and the lack of interaction between breast tissues and the surroundings, the clothes, the air, attention from others, as a result, we lose any traces of body awareness associated with the area as the body learn to fully rely on the function of the bras and no attention is drawn to that area during most of the day. All the vitally important functions of the body to support and sustain the breast start diminishing. Any tightness in the bra is further suppressed by the mind and we learn to ignore the discomfort making it a normal part of our lives.

Sometime down the road, we don’t even feel that discomfort any longer as all the sensitivity has been ignored and suppressed to the point of a complete loss of awareness. If we have been diagnosed by a medical practitioner with a particular health problem and were given no choice but to rely on drugs or surgery, and we have accepted that lack of choice, along with the fear that settles in our body, we consciously gave away the power to restore our health by our own natural means, which is love and care for our body and total awareness of its beingness and its needs.

Depending on our personal views, social conditioning and life experiences, we can see the Japanese tradition of Nyotaimori sushi (女体盛り) of serving food on a naked female body, in multiple ways. Some of us may see it as an objectification of a woman's body, some as a curious experience, some see it as fine art and a visual delight, others as an insight into the human psyche. It's obvious that with millions of different personal views on it, none of them becomes more important than the other. Good or bad, to like or not to like? To pretend to be indifferent and not to express anything because others may not agree? How do we judge?

Would it be possible that one day we will be living without the mask of defensiveness and self-centeredness, with our hearts open and vulnerable, without the fear of suffering and insecurities? Can we imagine a day when we don't have to hide the bottomless emptiness inside of our hearts by distracting ourselves from it with endless external searching and activities which provide us with an escape from solitude and a fleeting sense of comfort and security? Will we ever be daring enough to look into that void of unknown inside of us without fear?
